What happens to Funbridge points?
Bridge Points replace Funbridge Points. When you switch to Bridge Points, we automatically convert your existing Funbridge Points into Bridge Points (scale: 1 Bridge Point = 100 Funbridge Points, rounded up).
What are Bridge Points?
Bridge Points are points scored at the end of certain tournaments, enabling players to appear in several competitive rankings. The tournaments that distribute these points make up the Bridge Points Circuit. Not all tournaments distribute Bridge Points in the same way: thanks to a coefficient system, the higher a tournament's ranking, the more Bridge Points it distributes. The 5 possible coefficients for a tournament are BP100, BP200 (2x more Bridge Points), BP500 (5x), BP1000 (10x), BP Masters (25x). The player at the top of the Bridge Points Circuit Live leaderboard is considered the world's number 1 online bridge player.
Where can I check my Bridge Points level?
Your level is displayed in a crest next to your profile, as well as in your profile, where you can see in greater detail your rank in the 3 Bridge Points rankings:
-
Live ranking
Players are ranked based on the Bridge Points they have won in their best 50 tournaments played over the last 365 days. The table is therefore updated live, and the top player is considered as the world No. 1 in online bridge.
-
Monthly Ranking
The monthly leaderboard ranks players according to Bridge Points earned in a given month. It opens on the first day of the month and closes on the last. Unlike the Live ranking, this is a ranking that can be "won": at the end of the month, the winner is decided.
Monthly rankings are archived, and it is possible to consult the rankings of past months.
-
Annual ranking
The annual ranking ranks players according to Bridge Points earned over a calendar year. It opens on January 1 and closes on December 31. Like the Monthly Ranking, it designates a grand prize winner.
Annual rankings are archived, and it is possible to consult rankings from previous years.
Please note that it is the tournament start date that determines which monthly or annual ranking the points won in a tournament will go into. E.g.: a tournament starting on June 25 and ending on July 2 earns points for the June ranking.
Currently, these rankings do not appear in the ranking menu, but only in the Bridge Points Tournaments game mode and in your profile.
The Bridge Points accumulated by players throughout their careers enable them to access levels and honorary titles. Once a player has reached a level, he or she is never stripped of it. So, unlike the 3 rankings, this system doesn't measure a player's level at any given moment, but rather his career as a whole.
There are 60 levels (1 being the lowest, 60 the highest) and 15 titles to achieve, and this level is visible to other players.

Bridge Points calculation
Formula
With the following parameters, depending on the player and the tournament:
- i : the player's position
- N : number of participants
- D : number of deals
- K : tournament coefficient
And the following arbitrary coefficients:
- β : the data impact coefficient, equal to 0.15
- α : the deal saturation factor, equal to 1.5
- d : the minimum number of deals in a Bridge Points tournament, equal to 8
Which give us :
Detailed explanation
-
- N : Number of players
- Term : 10 x log10(N)
- Impact :
- This term uses the logarithm to base 10 of the number of players to establish a points base.
- The greater the number of players, the higher the base points. This means that larger tournaments reward more in terms of total points.
- D : Number of deals
- Term : 1 + β x log(1 + α x (D - d))
- Impact :
- This term adjusts points according to the number of deals played, with β and α controlling progression and saturation.
- β : Deal impact coefficient. Amplifies the initial impact of deals. The higher the coefficient, the more deals are added to a tournament, increasing the number of points distributed.
- α : Deal saturation factor. Controls the degree to which the impact of deals stabilizes after a certain point. With α = 1.5, deal impact begins to stabilize after 20 deals, meaning that adding more deals beyond this threshold has an increasingly reduced impact.
- i : Player position
- Term : log10((N + 1) / i)
- Impact :
- This term uses the logarithm to model the decay of points with position. The first players receive many more points, with a gradual decrease.
- The formula guarantees that the first players receive a bonus of points, but the decay is gentler than a strict exponential function, allowing a fairer distribution of points to intermediate positions.
- K : Tournament type coefficient
- Term : K
- Impact :
- This coefficient multiplies points according to the tournament label (BP100, BP200, BP500, BP1000, BP Masters).
- The coefficients are defined as follows: K = 1 for BP100, K = 2 for BP200, K = 5 for BP500, K = 10 for BP1000, and K = 25 for BP Masters.
- The more prestigious (or high-level) the tournament, the higher the K coefficient, considerably increasing the points awarded.
Exceptions for tournaments of less than 8 deals: if tournaments of less than 8 deals were to be organized, distributing Bridge Points, the formula would not work as it stands. To avoid problems, the formula will force the number of deals to 8 if the tournament has fewer deals.
Finally, Bridge Points earned will always be rounded off to the nearest whole number.
A last word :
We have chosen this new calculation method with the aim of :
- Reward players according to tournament size, making larger tournaments more attractive in terms of points.
- Adjust the impact of deals so that it is significant up to a certain threshold, then stabilize to avoid excessive influence from additional deals.
- Ensure that points are distributed in a way that favors the top places while remaining progressive to motivate players to rank in the best possible positions.
- Increase points for more prestigious or difficult tournaments with BP100, 200, 500, 1000, and Masters coefficients.
We look forward to hearing from you!
